Class Overview
In Dancing Designers, students collaborate with two professional artists. With curriculum developed with professional costume designer, Clare Wasserman, and Creative Stage Founder, Madeline Bender, instructors guide the class, as they learn to design and construct their own costumes pieces based on a theme such as Mythological Creatures, Outer Space, or In the Jungle . A professional dancer/choreographer works with the class to create a movement piece that tells a story — based on the chosen theme. Through this process, students learn the deeper purpose of costumes to communicate their ideas to an audience—which brings the children's costume creations to life! This unique program offers a wide variety of activities guaranteed to bring out the creative in your kid!
“The end of semester performance was an emotional experience for everyone in the room. The energy, pride and sheer joy expressed by the kids was incredibly moving... the quality of the performance and costumes were out of this world. I couldn’t believe how much these teachers had accomplished with the kids in one short semester.”
