Class overview

In Musical Theater Builders, kids create their own hilarious Musical Sketch Comedy Revue performance. Together with our team of professional adult singer/actors, students develop a script through improv. Next, musical numbers are crafted, by adding new lyrics to famous tunes from Broadway, to Opera to R&B—all with very comic effect! Finally, children rehearse and perform the “World Premiere” of their original show for family and friends. (Think Sesame Street and SNL, meet your kids at Carnegie Hall!) Each class is accompanied by a conservatory-trained musician to ensure a high standard of musical training.  Class size is limited, ensuring that each child is given the opportunity to make his or her own unique contribution.

Kids in this program will:

  • develop stronger literacy skills as they devise and revise and memorize scripts

  • develop confidence through the practice of theatrical improv games and exercises

  • develop skills in acting and singing

  • build stronger social.emotional skills and resilience through creative collaboration.
