Musical Theater Builders

Imagine the genius of Mozart, the fun of Saturday Night Live-style sketches, singing, dancing, and your kids all mixed up in a week of theatrical adventure and discovery!

At Musical Theater Builders Summer Camp, kids collaborate with professional, conservatory-trained musicians to create an original show entirely from scratch. Starting with theatrical improv, kids develop original stories and characters. Next, new lyrics are created and set to famous opera, symphonic, and popular hit tunes. The result is a hilarious, completely unique performance that will delight kids and parents alike!

Camp overview

The week starts off with a variety of improvisational games and exercises that are used to develop characters and sketch ideas.  By mid-week, an original script is created, based purely on the characters and ideas the children have created through improvisation.  New lyrics are devised, and set to famous opera, symphonic, and musical theater hit tunes, and the children begin to rehearse their show, complete with group and solo singing, theatrics, dance moves, and hilarity galore!  On the final day of class, the children perform their original production for friends and family.

Musical Theater Builders classes are accompanied by conservatory-trained musicians.  Class size is limited to ensure that each child is given the opportunity to make his or her own unique contribution to the final performance.

The studio is equipped with an enclosed outdoor space for lunch and recess breaks.

At the end of the week, families will enjoy a showcase of the final piece!

My daughter is absolutely dedicated to Musical Theater Builders. She has come more and more out of her shell each week. It makes me so happy to see how Madeline has been encouraging her to be comfortable in her own skin.
