FILMMAKERS WORKSHOP—Wild Card WEek!

Students Collaborate to create an original short film as they explore aspects of filmmaking!

  • Monday to Friday, from June 29-July 3

  • Remote class meets 9-11:30 online via Zoom

  • Engaging afternoon challenges for students to do independently each day

  • No special equipment required--all film will be recorded via Zoom or standard smartphone cameras

Along with reading, writing and arithmetic, filmmaking is emerging as a vital communication skill.  In the Filmmaking Workshop at Creative Stage students will hone their skills as they explore all aspects of the art of filmmaking from writing, acting, directing to editing their final film.    Students will start their day with Madeline Bender (Creative Stage Founder/Director) as they work together to create their own original screenplay using playful techniques such as theatrical improv, brainstorming round-tables and the like. 

After a short break, kids will log back on with industry professional, filmmaker Katheryn Metzger, to learn to convert their ideas into film, as well as film editing techniques. 

In the afternoon, kids will be given a variety of filmmaking challenges to work on independently.

SCHEDULE:

  • 9-10:15--Writer Room with Madeline Bender--kids create content/material for their film 

  • 10:30-11:30--Filmmaking Studio with Katheryn Metzger--kids develop their filmmaking chops

  • Afternoon--Kids are giving engaging filmmaking challenges to work on independently
