Along with reading, writing and arithmetic, filmmaking is emerging as a vital communication skill. In the Filmmaking Workshop at Creative Stage students will hone their skills as they explore all aspects of the art of filmmaking from writing, acting, directing to editing their final film.
Filmmakers Workshop-Musical Sketch Comedy Short, is a mash up for two of our most popular Creative Stage programs: Advanced Musical Theater Builders, and Filmmakers Workshop.
Students will start their day with Madeline Bender (Creative Stage Founder/Director) as they work together to create their own original musical, comic screenplay using playful techniques such as theatrical improv, brainstorming roundtables and the like. Students will also help create the soundtrack for their original film using Soundtrap.
After a short break, kids will log back on with industry professional, filmmaker Katheryn Metzger, to learn how to convert their ideas into film. They will also explore some basic film editing techniques.
In the afternoon, kids will be given a variety of filmmaking challenges to work on independently.
